SEYMOUR-OXFORD NURSERY AND CHILD CARE ASSOCIATION

The Seymour-Oxford Nursery and Child Care Association (SONCCA) operates before and after school child care centers in neighborhood schools for children in Kindergarten through Grade Eight.

The organization was founded in 1985 by a group of concerned citizens and working parents. It is non-profit and state-licensed. Care givers receive training in first aid creative activity planning and child development.

Currently it offers programs at five locations: LoPresti, Bungay and Chatfield Schools in Seymour and Quaker Farms and Great Oak Middle Schools in Oxford.

Each center operates during the school year and follows its own town's school calendar. The centers are open from 7 to to the start of school and from the time school closes to 6 p.m. except when school is closed or delayed due to inclement weather. It also is open on scheduled half days.

SONCCA also offers full-day care for kindergartners, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Quaker Farms School.

Members of its Board of Directors are: Harvey Catlin, chairman; Marianne Roberts, vice-chairman, Stephen Wasko, treasurer; Lillian Frolish, secretary; Donna Bonn-Murphy, Carol Bunk, Trisha Danka, Shirley Glynn, William Ryan, Charles Rizzio, Marie Sadler, Christine Babina, Nicole Grant and Daun Barrett.

The board meets on the third Monday of each month.
